Wanna Gig? - The PT RockJam

One of the hardest things that the people who put on shows and the bands have to deal with is that there are more good bands than there are gigs in this small town. We have what we think might be a cool solution.

For our show on June 10th at the Legion, we were going to just have a little open rock jam and free get-together. That idea has expanded a little bit.  Here is how it works.

The PT RockJam - Friday, June 10th

Any band who has not played an all ages show in PT in the last 30 days is welcome to have a slot on the Friday, June 10th Legion Hall show.  We will have a full backline set up, so all you have to do is bring your sticks and axes.  We will also have our regular PA setup and lights.  Set times will be 25 minutes, and performance times will be determined on stage, as we will put all the bands names in a hat, and call them up as the night goes on to be fair to everyone.

One of the biggest bands from Seattle, the Schoolyard Heroes have agreed to come kick this thing off right with a performance!

To Sign up, all you have to do is send us an e-mail to creativemedia@cablespeed.com and tell us you want to play. Tell us your bands name, and phone number, and web site if any.  Slots are only available to “Hard or heavy rock/punk bands.

  • All bands must sign by 6.30 at the Legion Hall.  Doors are at 7PM for the general public, and the show is free.
•First band is at 7:30, with 6 slots available for the show on a first come, first served basis. You must have not had an all ages show in PT for the last 30 days, giving new bands a chance to play.
•At the end of the 6 bands, (11PM) we will have a free for all jam which anyone is welcome to participate in.
•The “food theme” is cookies, so bring on your mamma’s best chocolate chip to pass around. Not like we all need a sugar rush…but food and beverage won’t be available, so bring water and cookies.
•Deadline to tell us you want to play is MAY 17th, or till we run out of slots…so be quick!  We will have posters for the event out on the 20th with the bands names.
•ANY BAND is welcome to (join the Warrior?) and sell merch and band related products and keep all the profits. Tables will be available for you to sell your stuff!
So there it is…Bands and Fans alike, come join us for a free night of rock at the first of what we hope will be many PT RockJams.

In a Rock Band?  Need a Demo?

Tuesday and Wednesday, June 7th and 8th, the American Legion Hall will be transformed into a digital recording studio,
open to any local rock band. It’s easy...and cheap. Here is how it works.

  • E-mail Dan DeMay for a 3 hour time slot on the day you want to record. Include your Phone Number in the e-mail.
  • Bring your instruments, amps, drums, etc. down to the Legion Hall 15 minutes before your time slot.
  • You will be setting up on the Legion Hall Stage which will have a full PA and a multi-track digital studio, as well as a comfortable space to hang out between “takes”.
  • We will record anything you want, live, and you will leave with a CD of what you can do in your allotted time, with the help of an engineer.   The stage will also have stage lighting, and is an excellent place to take “promo” pictures, so bring a camera.

General Rules.

  • Bring water or something to drink.
  • Please allow for a maximum of 5 “guests” with your band.
  • Please be prepared...or not. The intention of this is so that any band who doesn't have a lot of money or time to record can at least have a “demo” to get gigs, or just get a start, but the bottom line is...this is for FUN, so use your time to have some. The recording will be as nice as you and the enginner can do in your allotted time.
  • We will have a limited selection of guitars and amps that will be “pre-miked” and someone to provide technical assistance, and do our best to make the demo sound good. All you do is show up, work with the engineer to get the sounds you want, and record.

Then...Don’t forget to join us on Friday, June 10th for the PT RockJam @  the American Legion Hall - 7PM  FREE
(A Cheap reason to get as many rock musicians in the same room at the same time)

We will have a full PA, amps, turntables and a drum set. Just bring your instrument, come hang out at the Legion, and maybe jam with musicians you never get a chance to. The food is Cookies, so bring your favorite Mom’s. All who help out at the shows, the parents (earplugs provided) and any local musician is welcome. FREE.  We will pull names form the hat, and have musicians from all sorts of bands play with one another, and would love to have Jams from PA and Sequiem bands as well.  Bring it on, and see you there.
